Hands-on solar training for people building careers in Myanmar’s energy sector

Mee Panyar offers hands-on solar training for people looking to build careers in Myanmar's energy sector.

Programmes are practical and employment-focused, combining technical instruction with real installation experience.

We work closely with employers across Myanmar's solar sector and support graduates into work after they finish.

What participants learn

By the end of the training, participants should be able to:

  • Size and design of basic solar energy systems

  • Install rooftop and ground-mounted PV systems

  • Work with batteries, inverters and balance-of-system components

  • Commission and test a system safely

  • Carry out operation and maintenance

  • Identify and troubleshoot common faults in the field.

All training covers electrical safety and protection standards and is grounded in the technical realities of solar work in Myanmar.

Who this is for

Training is designed for people who want to work in solar: those starting out, electricians transitioning into solar PV or practitioners looking to build on existing skills. Prior solar experience is not required, but participants should be prepared to engage seriously with hands-on technical work.

  • 800+ people trained across Myanmar

  • 34% of participants are women

Training format

Programmes run in short, intensive formats and are delivered across multiple regions of Myanmar. Training is embedded in TVET institutions, building a steady supply of trained local technicians over the long term.

The technicians trained through these programmes go on to install and maintain the community energy systems Mee Panyar supports across Myanmar — workforce development and community energy access are two sides of the same work.

Employment opportunities

76% of graduates are employed within three months of completing training, 82% within six months.

Mee Panyar works with 50+ companies across Myanmar's solar sector and actively connects alumni to employers, finding work after training being an important part of the programme.
